Romero Featured Content

Hello there, I have the Romero theme, which allows to feature a post, but, it features by date. I want to be able to choose what I feature on the top of the page, let’s describe it as position #1 of the 7 available for featuring. Is there a way to do this by CSS customization?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there, I see that you’ve posted this in the CSS Customization forum, but have you had a look yet at the Romero theme showcase page? Have a look here https://wordpress.com/theme/romero/setup specifically under Featured Content and let us know if that answered your question.

Hi, thanks for the answer! And I do have read this page before using the theme, that’s why I’m asking if I could change the way that the featured content is selected. Example, there is a big news and I want to display it on top of the page, but, other new stuff comes out and I want to display it in one of the 6 bellow boxes without removing the big news from the top of the page. Is it possible to do it using css?

Hi @presstart0809, which post shows at the top as “featured” is determined by which post you have set with the “featured” tag. The top most full-width featured post will be the latest post you have selected, but you can override that by setting the post (with your featured tag) you wish to display at the top as a Sticky Post.

For the six that appear below the full width featured post, to control which show up there, you also have to set those as with the featured tag as well.

Hello @thescaredpath, I’ve tried to override the top most full-width post with the Stick Post tip, and it didin’t work out. It still shows the latest that I have tagged as featured. The six bellow are my least concern, I just want to be able to control what shows on the top of the page. Thanks for the tip by the way, I don’t know if I’m doing something wrong

Hmmm, I just tested and also saw that the Sticky Post setting didn’t affect it. I thought it would since the demo site has that top post set as a Sticky.

To change that would require modifications to the theme php script files so that if the post was set as sticky, it would appear at the top, and that is something that could only be done with the WordPress.com Business plan upgrade, and then the creation of a Child Theme and editing/changing the php scripting for the Hero section (featured posts).

Oh I understand, too much work for too little change. I’ll stick with the theme as it is then. Thank you very much!
