Rotating banner
-
I’m looking for a way to create a rotating banner like OMG!Ubuntu! did:
http://www.omgubuntu.co.uk/The only way to include a rotating banner in Worpress.com seems to adopt the Modularity Lite theme. However, the slideshow seems to be restricted to 950px X 425px images. The CSS can be edited to restrict the slideshow to a smaller height (lets say 200px), but it only crops the slideshow rather than resizes it. A not so elegant solution is to create images in posts with 950px X 425px dimensions with the banner on the top 200px of the image, and hide the images in the posts (style=”display:none”).
Anybody has a cleverer solution?

You could use an animated gif:

Thanks for the suggestion. The issue with animated gifs is that one can not link a post respectively to the image currently showed on.
