Route URL (not subdomain) to wordpress hosting

    Hi.

I’d like to set-up a routing for our website where only certain URLs will go to wordpress (hosted) and the rest will be handled by existing infrastructure. I am comfortable configuring routing in our servers, but I wonder if it’s even possible with hosted version of wordpress or if it would be better for me to host it?

If it’s possible, is there is an example of how can this be done, say using Apache or nginx?

    WP.com: Yes
    Correct account: Yes

  • Hi, you mean you’d like certain subdirectories (rather than subdomains) of a URL to be hosted on another server?

It’s outside the scope of our support, and beyond my expertise, frankly. But I have heard of doing this with a reverse proxy. I’d recommend checking stackexchange for more info on that (for example, this question).

As for whether we can host it here, it might work on our Business Plan, and I’m fairly certain it’s available on WordPress VIP hosting.

On the other hand, depending on what you want to do with your site, you may be able to handle it nicely all on one server, just using pages and posts and plugins, if needed. Let us know if you have questions about that.
