I don’t really understand what RSS is completely – can i put a button on my blog so people can automatically recieve updates?
How do I RSS this forum discussion to myself?
Thanks,
Lisa

Since you have only pages, and no posts, the RSS feed will be blank. RSS feeds show posts, not pages.
Yes you can put an RSS feed link on your blog though: http://faq.wordpress.com/2006/10/23/put-your-feed-in-your-sidebar/ .

http://faq.wordpress.com/2006/10/23/put-your-feed-in-your-sidebar/ . i did what it said but it didnt work…

Have i understood this right even? I thought this meant that people who read my blog can suscribe to it via this RSS button and then they will receive notifications to their email accounts automatically when i update my blog.
-
They would receive notification when you publish posts, not when you publish pages. Pages are not included in RSS. The following is the code for the mid-sized RSS images and a link to your feed. I also included linked text after the icon as well. You can change the image to a different one, and you can also edit the text after the link.
<a href="http://drlisalaw.wordpress.com/feed/"><img class="alignnone" title="Subscribe to my feed" src="http://faq.files.wordpress.com/2006/11/c28.png" alt="" /></a> <a href="http://drlisalaw.wordpress.com/feed/">Subscribe to my feed</a> -

How can I change the image to a different one? Can I change the colour from orange?
Thanks -
I like this – but where do I write it

Say, this was really helpful for me, too. I followed your initial link and got the RSS feed without the logo. I copied part of your code for drlisalaw to get the button, but it has a purple box around it? Any way to get rid of that?
It sure would be useful if the put-your-feed-in-your-sidebar support page told you where to put the code for each of those button options.THANKS! for your help

Some browsers show the border and some do not. Modify your code and add the border: none; section as below:
<a href="http://drlisalaw.wordpress.com/feed/"><img class="alignnone" style="border: none;" title="Subscribe to my feed" src="http://faq.files.wordpress.com/2006/11/c28.png" alt="" width="28" height="28" /></a> <a href="http://drlisalaw.wordpress.com/feed/">Subscribe to my feed</a> -

Oh, and now I think I see how to change the color, so drlisalaw would just change c28.png to e28.png, to get the different color. I may try that, too. Thanks again for your help.

Thanks but i dont see the 38.png. this is what i have written:

When you post code in the forum, it won’t display properly unless you place it between backticks, those little apostrophe-like marks that are usually on the same key as the ~. So do Backtick, all the code, backtick and then it will display properly.

Why are you trying to use the Feedburner code instead of the WordPress.com code? Did you register at Feedburner?
In any case, if you want to just use the WP.com code with the green button instead of the organge, you just replace the original, orange image URL with the green image URL in the correct spot in the code. So instead of this:
<a href="http://drlisalaw.wordpress.com/feed/"><img class="alignnone" style="border: none;" title="Subscribe to my feed" src="http://faq.files.wordpress.com/2006/11/c28.png" alt="" width="28" height="28" /></a> <a href="http://drlisalaw.wordpress.com/feed/">Subscribe to my feed</a>You would use this:
<a href="http://drlisalaw.wordpress.com/feed/"><img class="alignnone" style="border: none;" title="Subscribe to my feed" src="http://faq.files.wordpress.com/2006/11/e28.png" alt="" width="28" height="28" /></a> <a href="http://drlisalaw.wordpress.com/feed/">Subscribe to my feed</a> -
Oh brilliant – thank you! So I want that instead of the feedburner link? I don’t know why i have feedburner – i must have read about it in one of the forums – until yesterday I had never even heard of it! (me and wordpress are only 6 days old!)

Also, can i put a little icon next to
‘Click here to subscribe to this site and receive updates by Email ‘ to make it stand out more? eg the little gravatar tree i have?
