    f you do, it’ll have to be around 16x16px in order to look good.

    You would use this:

    <a href="http://drlisalaw.wordpress.com/feed/"><img class="alignnone" style="border: none;" title="Subscribe to my feed" src="http://faq.files.wordpress.com/2006/11/e28.png" alt="" width="28" height="28" /></a> <img class="alignnone" style="border: none;" title="None" src="http://YOUR_URL_HERE.com" alt="" width="16" height="16" /><a href="http://drlisalaw.wordpress.com/feed/">Subscribe to my feed</a>

    Just take out
    http://YOUR_URL_HERE.com

    And replace with the new icon URL (leave the quotes!).

    There is RSS subscription and Email subscription, and the two are different, but both involve feeds. The instructions I gave were for RSS subscription. For email subscription, you DO need to deal with feedburner. You need to link to the Feedburner page so that people can sign up, and you need to have registered for a Feedburner feed, which is what you use to follow these instructions:

    Email Subscriptions

    I have got myself in a right pickle!

    I would like:

    small green icon (e14) ‘Click here to subscribe to my feed’ (via wordpress)
    (then on the next line)
    brown envelope icon (http://www.neweditions.net/targetmail/images/email_icon.jpg) ‘Click here to subscribe to this site and receive updates by Email’ (via feedburner)

    I just can’t get it to work….

    <a href="http://drlisalaw.wordpress.com/feed/"><img class="alignnone" style="border:none;" title="Click here to subscribe to my feed" src="http://faq.files.wordpress.com/2006/11/e14.png" alt="" width="14" height="14" /></a> <a href="http://drlisalaw.wordpress.com/feed/">Click here to subscribe to my feed</a>

    <a src="http://www.neweditions.net/targetmail/images/email_icon.jpg/><a>

    This is the feed code with the green icon
    <a href="http://drlisalaw.wordpress.com/feed/"><img class="alignnone" style="border:none;" title="Click here to subscribe to my feed" src="http://faq.files.wordpress.com/2006/11/e14.png" alt="" width="14" height="14" /></a> <a href="http://drlisalaw.wordpress.com/feed/">Click here to subscribe to my feed</a>
    This is the email subscription with the envelope icon
    <a href="http://feedburner.google.com/fb/a/mailverify?uri=DrLisaLaw&loc=en_US"><img class="alignnone" style="border: none;" title="Subscribe to my feed" src="http://www.neweditions.net/targetmail/images/email_icon.jpg" alt="" width="28" height="28" /></a> <a href="http://feedburner.google.com/fb/a/mailverify?uri=DrLisaLaw&loc=en_US">Click here to subscribe to this site and receive updates by Email</a>

    Thank you so much – nearly there – what have i dont this time?

  • Unknown's avatar

    I seemed to have squashed the search button?

  • Unknown's avatar

    I would suggest giving a title to the search widget and the text widget where you put the subscribe icons. That way they will have the greenish band at the top and space out correctly.

  • Unknown's avatar

    Oh – great idea!

  • Unknown's avatar

    Can I get my 2 subscription links to open in new windows instead of losing my page?
    Also is the first one working? it doenst seem to be but it could be
    my computer here

    You want to add target="_blank" to the “href” sections right after the URL as you see below (4 places):

    <a href="http://drlisalaw.wordpress.com/feed/" target="_blank">
    <img class="alignnone" style="border: medium none;" title="Click here to subscribe to my feed" src="http://faq.files.wordpress.com/2006/11/e14.png" alt="" width="16" height="16" /></a><a href="http://drlisalaw.wordpress.com/feed/" target="_blank"> Click here to subscribe to my feed</a>

    <a href="http://feedburner.google.com/fb/a/mailverify?uri=DrLisaLaw&loc=en_US" target="_blank">
    <img class="alignnone" style="border: medium none;" title="Subscribe to my feed" src="http://www.neweditions.net/targetmail/images/email_icon.jpg" alt="" width="18" height="18" /></a><a href="http://feedburner.google.com/fb/a/mailverify?uri=DrLisaLaw&loc=en_US" target="_blank"> Click here to subscribe to this site and receive updates by Email</a>

    I have an RSS blog feed successfully appearing on another web site I administer, but for the last two posts it’s suddenly started cutting off the first letter of the first sentence — which of course looks terrible. Any ideas?

    If the RSS feed coming out of wordpress is correct ( http://blogname.wordpress.com/feed/ ) then it is an issue on the website and not here.
