RSS code visible in iTunes

    WordPress is putting weird code in my RSS feed that shows up on iTunes.

    In the episode description, it is inserting the following after the text I provide:

    <img alt=”” border=”0″ src=”http://pixel.wp.com/b.gif?host=jpostpodcast.wordpress.com&blog=76045378&post=33&subd=jpostpodcast&ref=&feed=1″ width=”1″ height=”1″ />

    I use FeedBurner, but I understand from other forums that this has to do with stats tracking in WordPress (and nothing I’ve tried in Feedburner affects this): https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/itunes-description-gore?replies=4#post-2030223

    Can nothing be done about it? I was ready to get a premium account to upload my first dozen shows, but it seems crazy that a site that offers so much for podcasters would not be able to give them a clean description in the iTunes store!

    Thanks

    Thanks. PS Although the staff member in the post above said it was a wordpress issue, a different staff member said in another forum questions was convinced that it was a feedburner issue. https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/itunes-podcast-description-error

    Hi there!

    I just checked in with Dustin about his method and what he suggested should remove the stats code from your iTunes feed. If you enable and configure the ‘SmartCast’ feature in Feedburner, then the feed contents that iTunes grabs will not include the stats code.

    Hope this helps! Let me know if you have other questions!

    Thanks, but I actually did have the Smartcast feature on in Feedburner, and it still came through.

    I ended up moving to Podbean, instead. Thanks for your help, though.

    I’m glad you found a service that works for you. Let me know if I can help with anything else!
