RSS error on WordPress site

Help please. I’ve added an RSS feed to my site http://richthinkers.wordpress.com/feed/ but what comes up in the feed box is ‘An error has occurred; the feed is probably down. Try again later.’
I’ve tried this several times over the last few weeks but always get the same. I’ve no problems adding RSS to other wordpress sites which seems to work fine. Any suggestions? The only difference with this site is that I imported it from Blogger.com. I can’t see how that would make a difference but then I don’t know very much. -
Your blog seems to be password protected. I think this is causing the problem with the RSS feed.

Oops. I’ve removed the password protection so it is now visible to all. I’ve removed the RSS feed and put it up again afresh, but still it comes up with the same error message. Any ideas?

I’m not completely sure, but I think feed problems are usually on the other side. I had 2 feeds on my blog at one point, and one of them was constantly down, while the other was perfectly fine. You might want to first check that the blog you are trying to RSS isn’t private or password protected, but apart from that, I would think that the problem isn’t on your site.

Why would you want your own feed in your sidebar? Besides, according to the FAQ, you can’t do it. http://faq.wordpress.com/2006/12/24/using-the-rss-widget/
You cannot put your the feed address from your own blog into one of your RSS widgets. If you’d like to show your own recent headlines in you sidebar, please use the Recent Posts widget instead.
Also, be aware that private blogs have no feed.

I am having a similar problem. I input an RSS feed URL and when you click on it, it goes to the original site and not the one I put in (the site I want to appear is one extra click into the site). I hope I’ve explained myself–the original site is usa.gov but I want the usa.gov/contact/elected.shtml
I keep putting it in but it only comes up usa.gov
Any suggestions? Thanks for your help!

Hi! I just bought my domain…chicagobluesgirl.com and now my URL also has an error message! I tried to remove it and re-enter…same thing. There is nothing wrong with the site usa.gov/contact/elected.shtml but my site still has the error message and will not link. Any ideas? Thank you very much for your advice.
