rss feed
-
Hi
I have today authorised the rss feed on my blog.I would just like to check 2 things please. Firstly the fomat of the blog has changed and now just has rss feed and comments on the right hand side rather than categories and various other details. Is that correct and the right way of doing it?
Also if people are using my blog via an rss feed how does it get recorded on the statistics?
Thanks in advance for any help.
Shaun
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I don’t understand what you mean by “authorized the RSS feed.” All Wp.com blogs have RSS feeds from their moment of creation.
We don’t have stats on RSS readers, unfortunately.
Here is the answer to why your sidebar changed:

I have today authorised the rss feed on my blog.
(1) Unlike blogger (blogspot) blogs all wordpress.com blog come with two functional RSS feeds that do not require authorization. This is the feed to your posts (entries) http://notayesmanseconomics.wordpress.com/feed/ This is the feed to your comments http://notayesmanseconomics.wordpress.com/comments/feed/
The theme you choose locate them in the footer>
Blog at WordPress.com.
Entries (RSS) and Comments (RSS).
The RSS feeds have been validated and are working http://ismyblogworking.com/notayesmanseconomics.wordpress.com -

(2) Every theme has a default display of widgets. When you go here > Appearance and change anything at all they disappear as they are meant to do, as your personal selections over-ride the default.
Go here > Appearance > Widgets and drop and drag the widgets you want to use into the sidebar and configure according to your choices and click “Save Changes”.
But before doing that you may wish to read the support documentation > http://en.support.wordpress.com/topic/widgets-sidebars/
One of the widgets you can choose to use is this one The RSS Links Widget allows you to easily add links to your blog’s post and comment RSS feeds in your sidebar. This will provide your readers with a quick way to obtain your blog feed URLs and subscribe to them as they wish (via a web browser or RSS reader, like Google Reader). http://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/rss-links-widget/

Thanks to timethief and raincoaster for your help. I can see that I have much to learn.
I have made a couple of modifications having read what you say and have one more question, is it possible to return to the default settings and how would I do it?
-
If by returning to default settings you mean the original content of your sidebar, you go to Appearance>Widgets, open each widget, click Delete.
- The topic ‘rss feed’ is closed to new replies.
