RSS feed

    Hi,
I have a few questions about the use of the blogs. I had an idea for the creation of blogs for my investigation group (specialize in the study of Spanish Philology). The idea is to have a blog for each of the doctorate students in the group. So far so good, but the problem begins when I wish to have one blog that present that group with all the blogs where there will be one page with little squares of every doctorate student (10 in total). Those squares will constantly be RSS fed with the last 5 entries the students made in their blogs. Now in order to do that I need to build a blog with RSS feeds in the post area (or if you have a better idea, I will be very thankful) and I can´t seem to find how to do that.
To clarify, I read the Types of Blogs that violate the rules and I do think my idea does not, in any way, violate any blog rule.

    Thank you for your help

It sounds like you’d like to create a separate blog for each doctorate student and then compile their posts into one feed that’s displayed on a single blog. Is this right?

If so, I’m afraid that wouldn’t be possible on WordPress.com. However, there is an alternative that might work for you.

You could create a single blog and add each doctorate student as an Editor:

Each author would have their own RSS feed that people could subscribe to, in addition to the main RSS feed of the blog:

Thank you for the fast reply.
Yes, what you said is right, that is the idea for the group.
Your idea about adding them as editors is good. I thought of it but I had some unsolved issues that I will read about in the links you gave me. Issues such as: will each one of them have his own user name and password? (I think so). Can they have a different name for their part of the blog even though its under the same main blog? Can they design their pages anyway they like? etc.

    Thanks again

Yes, each one will have their own username and password. You can also add links to their Author pages to your site’s navigation bar by adding theme as custom links:

Regarding your last two questions, each user would be publishing to the same blog. This means that the blog title would be the same for everyone and that everyone would be using the same layout.

If you wanted every to have their own layout, then you’d each have to sign up for your own blog URL.
