RSS Feed?

  • Unknown's avatar

Hi there guys im looking to add a rss feed on my site. Is there a way i can post a rss feed on the content section of my blog and not just in the sidebar? Thanks

  • Unknown's avatar

Nope. They can only be in your sidebar. (There is a workaround using widget box and vodpod but I haven’t been successful in getting it to work regularly.)

Hey – aren’t you self-hosted now? In that case, you’re in the wrong forum. And my answer doesn’t apply.

  • Unknown's avatar

Yes you can post your feed with your content just write something
like Rss feed and anchor the link to the word [Rss feed]

What? I want to see that work, teck. The only solution I’ve ever found for putting an RSS feed in a post is here https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic.php?id=23029&replies=1

Wouldn’t it fall afoul of this:
    http://wordpress.com/types-of-blogs/

    Specifically banned:
Automated blogs: Blogs that are generated by computers, including randomly generated blogs, blogs that re-publish press releases, marketing material, search engine results, link dumps or any other mass-produced content.

Just guessing here, but I would imagine that to be true if the *sole* content of the blog were automatically generated. About the blog that Vivian linked to, that’s not the case. Not clear about what the poser is wanting to do.

  • Unknown's avatar

I forgot to mention it would have to manually
done each time you write a post

  • Unknown's avatar

Oops here is what i’m trying to say

I forgot to mention you’ll have to manually
link your Rss feed each time you write a post

  • Unknown's avatar

    @vivianpaige
I use the feed burner Icon that is link to my
feed & I post it with my posts every time I
write a new post even thou its a code I paste…

It would be no different to hyper link to your
feed all you have to do is write your post
then Write [Rss feed] attach your feed link
to the word [Rss Feed] each time you write
a new post it will work try it out you’ll see
    what I’m talking about…. :)

Feel free click my user name to see my
Rss feed and email subscription attached
    to my posts

  • Unknown's avatar

Well, that’s not what the original poster was asking for, as far as I can tell. You are posting a link to your feed, not the feed itself, which is what the RSS widget shows.

  • Unknown's avatar

    @vivianpaige,
If you follow the instruction about anchoring your direct feed link to your
post you’ll see want I’m talking about this can be achieved with out using
    feed burner…

As for the OP they ask if it is possible to add there feed to there post
and I have provided a answer for that question.. [That doesn’t require feed burner]

These instructions explain using your wp.com feed link

all you have to do is write your post
then Write [Rss feed] attach your feed link
to the word [Rss Feed] each time you write
a new post it will work try it out you’ll see
    what I’m talking about…

    <block

  • Unknown's avatar

Also to clear up the confusen The instructions refer to the direct feed
it will not show there posts like the widget does it just make it were a
reader can subscribe from there post.

And if the OP was refering to the RSS displaying titles then This wont
work and can't even image why the op would want to do that when the widget
does that for you... I took it as the op was referring to the widget were there
readers can subscribe to there Rss feed and if thats that case my instructions
    will work for that..

Going back to the original question that teck07 — I’m simply trying to add the “Subscribe in Reader” RSS symbol in my sidebar. I followed the instructions in Feedburner, and copied the HTML to insert into the WordPress site template. But Feedburner shows an illustration of a Presentation tab from the WordPress Dashboard, as well as a Sidebar Widgets tab, neither of which I can find when I go to my WordPress Dashboard. Is Feedburner showing an old version of the Dashboard, or do I have an old version of WordPress? Or am I just looking the wrong place?

    Hello stephenrothman,

Feed burner is showing a old dashboard….

what you need to do is go to dashboard then click on design
then click on widget now add text widget click edit on the text
widget then paste HTML code click change on the text widget
then at the bottom you’ll see save changes click that Then you
should see the RSS symbol on your side bar….

Hi teck07 — it was a piece of cake! Thanks to your help. Appreciate it!
