RSS Feed doesn’t cut at “more” anymore
-
I’ve noticed that the RSS feed now is the feed of all my articles either if i use the “more” tag…
I would like the previous behavior.. why this happened?
i didn’t touched my setting… -
Searches are your friend. https://en.forums.wordpress.com/search.php?q=more+tag
The tag now works as it should have.
-
probably i didn’t explained myself properly:
the more tag became a “span” tag in RSS xml
example: <span id=”more-179″></span>
it should be a link to the bottom part of the article…
i WAN’T the RSS to cut articles where i’ve put the <!–more> tag… and this used to behave that way until recently
i looked into the forum but i didn’t find anyone with this problem, usually people ask why the Feed doesn’t show all the article.. i want the opposite thing
just follow the link to my blog.. see the “more” tag in the main page working as it should “Leggi il resto dell’articolo” – “Read more”
then try downloading the Feed…
you’ll see it the tag isn’t a link!!
it should be something like:
</span>and it used to be until 1 month, more or less.. can’t tell it with absolute precision
-
ah…
sorry.. the last part has been interpretated as a link :/i mean:
[a href=”whatever” id=”more-179″][/a](think of [ and ] as < and >)
and it used to be until 1 month, more or less.. can’t tell it with absolute precision

Did you read the thread Vivian pointed you to? If you want truncated feeds, you need to go to Options–>Reading and set the feed there.
-
@raincoaster
vivianpage linked a search result.. wich one should i read?my setting are the same since when i created my blog..
for each article show: all text
and it say:
“if you use the <!–more–> tag post will be truncated in RSS(I’m translating so may be it’s not exactly the same)
the other setting “brief” cut the article to the first lines without considering the <!–more–> tag…
there are no other options.. and since i didn’t changed them since the blog is there i don’t think it’s something in options..
something changed in wordpress.com or to my blog.. something i can’t do anything for…if this has been already discussed i can’t find it.. please give me a direct link to the discussion that you want me to read..

@raincoaster
no I don’ti already readed a lot of them and NO ONE ask what I’m asking here
my setting are correct! It’s 1 year or more that they are correct and i don’t touch them! This started to happen without me doing anything so this CAN’T be something i have to do in my settings…
now I’m a bit tired of trying to explain it… so I’ll change strategy and instead of words, that seems not to work, I use examples….
say i do a post like this:
####
Hi this is an example..
if you want to read the whole article click on “read more” below
<!–more–>
this is the the other part of the article you could only see if you come into my blog to the page of this article…
####ok.. now in the homepage of my blog i see the list of my articles.. that one would look like this:
######
Article Title

Hi this is an example..
if you want to read the whole article click on “read more” belowread more <— this is a link to the article when i see all the text
######and this is ok..
since 1 month ago RSS reader was exactly the same:
######
Article Title

Hi this is an example..
if you want to read the whole article click on “read more” belowread more <— this is a link to the article when i see all the text
######now (WITHOUT ME TOUCHING OPTIONS, which are correct anyway) i have this in the feed:
####
Hi this is an example..
if you want to read the whole article click on “read more” belowthis is the the other part of the article you could only see if you come into my blog to the page of this article…
####and where the “more” tag should be i have (if i open the .xml file)
<span id=”more-123″></span>cases are 2:
1) wordpress.com changed his behavior recently… (see below)
2) something wrong has happening to my blog and it’s not my fault…on case 2 i can’t do anything but reporting it
on case 1 i would like to know if it’s possible to have the previous behaviour
the only option i can change is:for each article show:
*) all text
*) a briefingif i choose “a briefing” the result is something like this:
####
Hi this is an example..if you want to read the whole article click on…
####it’s 5-6 lines but the important thing is that this ISN’T what i used to had before…
i hope now i made myself clear….
-
i just noticed this is happening to many others too…
and i found out that the post that say the same things are at the end of the list ….
result 29 and 30

https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic.php?id=22667&replies=7#post-168826now I’ll read them
-
-
ok… as i though…
we are in case 1 and there’s no way to have the previous behavior back..
I’m going to follow this thread and hope for some solution…

I’m completly agree with this new stuff. Blogger abuse of this function only to increase their access counter. I guess this function is only usefull to permit more articles into homepage, but RSS feeder must be quick and easy to use, and removing “read more” link from it, is a *great* feature.
I hope you will leave this option as now…

I could care less personally.
But I was surprised this morning to see
Syndication Feeds Show the most recent: posts For each article, show: Full text Summary Note: If you use the <!--more--> feature, it will cut off posts in RSS feeds.in my dashboard because I thought this behavior had been changed. It looks like the documentation in the dashboard needs to be updated :-)
