RSS Feed doesn't display on latest Firefox browser
-
I seldom use or visit my basic RSS feeds page, but tried to access it yesterday via a link to it in the sidebar on my site. The link works perfectly on Google Chrome, opening the feeds page as it has always done in the past. On Firefox, the link doesn’t open the page, and instead produces a downloads module which asks me “What should Firefox do with this file?”
The same thing occurs if I copy and paste the link URL, which is https://songbook1.wordpress.com/feed/, into the Firefox address bar.
The options are to open or save the “file” with the application of your choice. Attempts to open the file have failed. When I choose to save the file, a file of unknown type is saved, titled “8bPUK1AR” on my most recent attempt, and I’m unable to read the file with any applications that I’ve tried.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
Your site’s feed is opening just fine on my Firefox installation as you can see from the following screenshot:
Have you checked the association in Firefox’s settings? Make sure that the Web Feed is set to Preview in Firefox. Here’s how I have configured:
Please let me know if you’re still unable to open the feed and I’ll help troubleshoot this more.

Thanks for reopening the topic.
So I’m still unable to open the rss feed on Firefox. As before it doesn’t automatically open, and If I choose the option to save the file rather than open it, then the Adobe Acrobat Reader is unable to open the file, and an error message is produced.
Have you checked the association in Firefox’s settings? Make sure that the Web Feed is set to Preview in Firefox.
I’m unable to implement this suggestion. The list of content types at FF Options > Applications does not included Web Feed on my set up. The closest thing I find is the content type “application/rss + xml,” and the option to change the action to “Preview in Firefox” doesn’t exist for any content type in the list of applications. I speculate that the difference may be due to the chosen privacy settings.

Hi @musicdoc1,
Firefox no longer supports reading RSS feeds directly in the browser. They removed that feature in Firefox 64.
The file that saves if you opt to save the feed is an XML file. You’d need an app like XCode to open that file – nothing installed on a computer by default can open that type of file.

Those are Firefox settings, but likely from an older version, yes. Those options no longer exist as of Firefox 64.
