RSS feed doesn’t show full articles
-
Hi!
I’ve seen this question on several places, but never a satisfactory answer.
I’ve got a blog here and a RSS feed to my website (http://www.m2makelaars.nl/web/info/weblog.php).
Although I’ve chosen ‘For each article in a feed, show ‘ to Full article, the RSS feeds only shows app. 5 lines of the blog.
Has anyone got a suggestion how to fix this?
Thx!
Marco
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

The feed coming out of wordpress, http://marcovanderknaap.wordpress.com/feed/ , is showing the full articles.
-
No, it’s not…
When I enter the URL http://marcovanderknaap.wordpress.com/feed/ in Firefox, the pages shows the feeds, but only the first two lines of the posts and at the end of the partial post an […] is added.
As you can see on the site where the feed is imported:
http://www.m2makelaars.nl/web/info/weblog.phpAgain, on that site also only the headers are shown.

Ok, I’ve tried it in Internet Explorer 8 and there the full article is shown. Isn’t that strange?
Why does IE show the full articles and FF doesn’t?

Still it’s strange. On the site where the feed is imported it also shows the partial articals. Both in IE and in FF. Until last week I blogged with Blogspot and everything worked fine. I changed to WordPress because of the LinkedIn app. That’s working fine (with partial posts also).

The wordpress.COM RSS feed for your blog shows full posts. In IE8, when I view http://marcovanderknaap.wordpress.com/feed/ I see the full posts. In Safari I see the full posts. In Opera I see the full posts.
In FF 3.5, I can’t even view your feed because it keeps wanting me to add it to the live bookmarks, and when that happens, the live bookmark for your site gives me links that takes me directly to your blog posts rather than letting me view your feed.
If you are using a feed aggregator such as Google reader or Feedburner to view your feeds, then the problem likely lies at that end. Again, what is coming out of wordpress are full posts in your RSS feed.

Yeah, you’re right. I’ll have a go with another feedreader and do some testing. Hope I find something. If anyone can help me with a PHP script that works, please let me know. You can mail me at marco at van-der-knaap dot nl.
Thanks for the testing and the advice!

This is the only information I have on adding RSS feeds to websites: http://www.webpronews.com/expertarticles/2006/10/09/rss-feeds-adding-a-feed-to-a-website-using-php

I’m seeing the same information with my blog, http://stvrly.wordpress.com. When I view it in the feed reader in IE 8, I can see full feeds and all images. When I view it in the feed reader in FF 3.5.2, I see only the first few lines followed by […]. Plus, the images don’t appear but rather they’re links at the end of the few lines of feed text. What’s different about the way FF reads RSS?

OK, just saw this article… http://www.devilsworkshop.org/force-firefox-to-display-your-full-feeds-wordpress-hack/
Maybe WP.com needs to make the change?

Thats’ really nasty. Looks like FF did it deliberately; maybe we need to be talking to FF.
