“RSS Feed Import Option”???
-
GoDaddy’s instructions for importing my blog to wordpress involve using WordPress’s RSS Feed Import Option. I can’t find it. Which option do I use?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)
-
There is an RSS Feed Option under category: appearance sub-cat: widgets. that is the only rss feed option i have found.

@juliemadblogger, is the blog that you are trying to transfer to the new blog a wordpress.COM blog? If so please give us a link.
I’m pretty sure that there is a much better solution already provided and I’m confused as to why godaddy would suggest the RSS feed route as it is less than optimal. We only recommend it as a last resort.

I don’t have it in mine. Mine is real basic. I just started. No widgets yet. I think I’ll call GoDaddy, see what they say.

Thanks. I want to export my Quickblogcast Godaddy blog to my new WordPress blog, because Godaddy suddenly upped their prices. Godaddy suggested using the RSS Feed method, but they have an export button on their blog, right on the blog itself, so I don’t see why I can’t use that.

Yeah, you need to explore things further with Godaddy. It just depends on if their export function makes the right type of file for wordpress to import.
Also, since your new blog is self-hosted, you will need to inquire about problems and questions over at http://wordpress.ORG/support/ . The software here at the wordpress.COM free hosting service works differently in key ways and we have far more restrictions here that you do not.

I did it. I used their export function and made a text file. Then I used the “movable type” import function. It was rather simple, actually. The tech support guy knew his stuff and diddn’t seem to mind that he was losing business….Thanks, everyone.

Hi,
I had 385 subscribers to my blog at Blogger. I imported the blog over to WordPress and mapped my url there, but in the process, lost my Google reader feeds. All of my readers weren’t moved over.
Any thoughts about how to retrieve their subscriptions?
