rss feed not pulling in new posts
-
Hi,
I just switched from Blogger to WordPress. My last Blogger post sends everyone to the new WordPress addy, and gives the url to add to their feed readers (http://jeloca.wordpress.com). A loyal reader emailed me today to say that she was surprised I hadn’t posted in a while, so she went to the site directly and saw I had new posts.
Therefore, the new posts aren’t coming through the feed reader. She uses Blogines, by the way.
I subscribed to myself via Bloglines and see that only some old posts I’d set up during my last attempt at importing my Blogger posts appear. (THAT was a failed attempt, but at least WordPress is aware of the Blogger import problems). After verifying my settings, I can’t figure out why my new posts (including one from yesterday and one from today) are not being pulled.
I did try going to dashboard/settings/reading and changing my syndication number, updating, then changing it back…and so far (it has been 10 minutes) there are still no new posts being found by Bloglines.
Help please!!

My guess is that you may not be entering the address properly. The feed link is http://jeloca.wordpress.com/feed/
When I look at it in a feed reader, it’s fine.
-
Nope, I wish it were that simple.
When you go to Bloglines and go to “add”, if you subscribe to http://jeloca.wordpress.com it automatically finds the feed and adds the /feed/ to the address. That is how my friend subscribed and when she views her subscription, it has the /feed/ part. Hers isn’t working.
I myself “added” my blog to Bloglines using the full http://jeloca.wordpress.com/feed/ address, and mine isn’t working either.
Can someone using Bloglines check it out for me?

It looks fine now on Bloglines (and in google reader as well). It was most likely something on the Bloglines end; sometimes it takes them a while (hours to a day or two) to update new feeds.
-
For whatever reason, it seems to be working now, so I’m hoping you were right and it was just a temporary glitch. I’ll keep checkig it to make sure it keeps working.

i’m having the same problem as jenniferlori. sometimes it picks up my feed, but i subscribe to my comments fee as well and that is down for a few weeks now. using bloglines.

I can confirm that there is a problem with bloglines. Feed and Comment – Feed are not updated with bloglines for some days, while google – reader, feedburner and rss – bookmarklet in firefox are uptodate. Another blog I have subscribed seems to update regularily. I think it is a bloglines – problem, but I want to be sure….

I just changed this to not being resolved- I updated my blog around 1:30 this afternoon and as of this typing (7:14pm) bloglines still hasn’t shown a new post.
This is really frustrating! Is there any WordPress person who can help??

I found your blog by googling the SAME problem with Bloglines and my blog http://www.tidymomof2.blogspot.com
To make matters worse, you can’t get anyone to help you there – their forums are full of spam and if you use the “contact us” – you get a generic response that someone will contact you and they never do (I’ve been trying for over a week)
My blog has not been updated thru bloglines in several days – when I went thru all the blogs on my list, there are several other that have not been updated either – but I noticed some now have.I’ve been playing around over there, I noticed when you’re logged into your bloglines account, there is a way to “Claim your blog” – so I thought maybe I need to do that – In doing so you have to provide your blog password, to prove you own the blog – and it keeps denying me! ARRRGH!!!! and of course, no help any where!!!
I’ve been to Google reader, and all is fine over there – so I guess I need to switch, and luckily I don’t have a ton of subscribers at Bloglines, but it’s still VERY frustrating!

I would assume that there is a WordPress/Bloglines glitch the same way there is a WordPress/Blogger importer glitch, and that this is not something random users can fix by contacting Bloglines. I have also been waiting for almost a week for a response from Bloglines’ support team.
This IS very frustrating, as we cannot control what feedreader our blog readers choose to use for their convenience. My blog still hasn’t registered a new post with Bloglines, and I have posted both yesterday and today.
Can someone affiliated with WordPress PLEASE comment??? I’m thisclose to adding the moderator tag to get someone to pay attention to this issue.

If you read the above post, you’ll see that even Blogspot bloggers are having this problem.
If you want to contact staff directly, the forums are the least effective way to do it. Use your dashboard support button.

WordPress.com doesn’t do anything to prevent Bloglines from accessing the feed. A couple of easy tests are:
- Look at your feed in another feed reader such as Google Reader or directly in your browser
- Make sure the feed validates at http://feedvalidator.org/
If one of these test fail, contact support. If not, you will need to contact Bloglines support.

I am aware that this is probably a Bloglines issue. Unfortunately they have no customer or technical support. Their forums have been down for over a week (at least when I try to access them) and their contact us form generates an auto response that says someone will get back to you, I’ve been waiting over a week, others I see online have been waiting for months. I did some searching and found out they are owned by Ask.com. I called Ask.com and asked to speak to Bloglines tech support- that got me forwarded to a voice mailbox that was full. I called back to tell them and they said they only had that phone number or a website address, the website address is for the Ask.com FAQ but they have a “report site issue” form. I completed it to complain about the Bloglines problems but am still waiting for a response.
