RSS feed not validating
-
Hi. My podcast has stopped uploading to iTunes — you can see it here:
https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/youre-gonna-hate-it/id1507698878
…only two episodes are showing. A third has was uploaded several days ago, which you can see here:
https://werejustaskingquestions.wordpress.com/category/youre-gonna-hate-it/
I tried deleting and re-uploading the episode a couple times, and refreshing the podcast on iTunes connect, all to no effect. Now when I plug the RSS link generated by WordPress into an RSS validator, it comes back as a non-valid feed. What could be the problem here?
For reference, the RSS URL generated by WordPress’s Podcasting Settings page is:
https://werejustaskingquestions.wordpress.com/category/youre-gonna-hate-it/feed/
This is the same RSS listed on iTunes. Clearly, it was valid at one point, or else the first two episodes would not have validated. Why would that have changed?
I appreciate the help.

So I’m seeing an issue with the subtitle:
line 61, column 777: length of 643 exceeds the maximum allowable for itunes:subtitle of 255 [help]
Could you try adding an excerpt to your latest post to see if that helps?

Hi there,
I just ran your above feed through W3C and here’s what it says:
Sorry. This feed does not validate.
line 61, column 777: length of 643 exceeds the maximum allowable for itunes:subtitle of 255
and there’s a link to help for that error on that page.

Yeah, I edited the most recent post so it’s under the character limit. The RSS is validating now but posts still aren’t uploading to iTunes. Here’s a link to the most recent post:
https://werejustaskingquestions.wordpress.com/2020/05/05/3-yojimbo-hard-ticket-to-hawaii/
It’s been live for more than 24 hours at this point and still isn’t showing on iTunes.

Hi there,
The link to the podcast page you shared does not exist. Have you made any change to it?
-
Sorry, yes, I ended up reposting to see if that helped. It hasn’t. New link:

I don’t see anything wrong with that podcast or the feed. Please force refresh your podacast by following these instructions from Apple:

I’ve merged your two threads, by the way. It gets confusing when you’ve got two going. :)
I don’t know whether iTunes only picks up new posts. It might be worth just deleting this one and posting it again if you have to.
-
I’ve tried refreshing the podcast on iTunes and reposting the episode and still it’s not uploading.
-
Please give iTunes at least 24 hours and it will hopefully pull your new episode. In the meantime don’t make any edits to the post containing the podcast link.

The refresh at iTunes is out of our wheelhouse. Can you remind me whether you tried deleting that post and posting it afresh as I suggested earlier?
-
-
Can you try creating a new post with a slightly different title and insert there your podcast?
