RSS feed uses the old name of my blog, even though I’ve changed it

I am now back using my andrewgould.wordpress blog, after leaving it unused for quite a while. I decided to check my RSS feed by pasting it into my Google Reader. It worked, but has the title of my blog as it was before, which is Andrew Gould’s Images.

I registered andrewgouldsimages as a domain name with WordPress nearly a year ago, and then decided to stop using it. I then switched back to andrewgould.wordpress, and this is how I will continue it.

I cannot see anywhere in my settings, Andrew Gould’s Images anymore, since I changed the blog title to AndrewGould’s Photojournal. Can anyone tell me why the RSS feed has not changes to the latter name? I may have given some unnecessary background here, but wanted to make the facts clear.

    Thanks,
    Andrew.

What I see on your raw feed coming out of wordpress.COM is exactly what is on your blog as a title.

Feed readers are notoriously slow in catching up to changes like a title. Give it 24 ours, or until your next post and see if it does not update.

Thanks for that feedback. I’ve just been to Google Reader again, and to my surprise, on scrolling down, posts from as far back as Oct 2008 that I’ve long ago deleted are showing. This is just the text, as the photos are no longer linked.

It is only just a day since I restarted this blog, so taking your advice, I’ll wait a bit longer and see if it updates. Then, I’ll report back here.

Feeds will keep all posts basically forever, even those that have been deleted. What you can do is to set your feed to display only two or three posts for the time being so that the old ones don’t show and then when you get ten or so new ones up, you can reset the feed to show ten or so.

Thanks once again, Richard. I couldn’t see a way to limit the number of posts when I went there, but I was able to change my blog’s name to its current one. Perhaps this means, then, that I was getting the old name because of old Google Reader settings, and that anyone else who subscribes in the future will get the new name. Does that make any sense?

Or maybe… everyone will still get the old name. I now realise that I have no way of checking this as I am signed in on my own account for Google Reader of course, and can’t see how my feed comes up on anyone else’s!

    Anyone got thoughts on this?
