RSS Feed Widget-New Window (Business Identity)
-
I need help with sidebar widget for rss feed (using business identity template). Any way to have it open a new window when someone clicks on the feed? I was in a chat with WP customer service and was advised to ask for some help here.
I had to download an rss feed reader and was able to set up the following on google:
https://news.google.com/news/section?cf=all&hl=en&pz=1&ned=us&csid=34318364a6e15abf&siidp=568ee07e1a0f4512ecbaf0dea98d11fc76f9&ict=lnThe feed comes in fine on the sidebar widget; however when user clicks an article I want a new window to come up for the outside site. If possible, I’d also like for the RSS feed icon, when clicked, to either go nowhere (disabled) or open up in a separate window.
If I can’t use google ultimately so be it. I ultimately need some kind of newsfeed that I can set up filters for to show up on a sidebar widget.
Any suggestions greatly appreciated!
I have the site private now so not sure best way to let you be able to see it. I tried changing the visibility of one page to password protected. pw: 1234

It’s not possible to set the RSS widget links to open in a new window, or to change the behaviour of the link on the widget heading or feed icon. That type of functionality is preset in the widget code and adding custom CSS can’t change it.
You could hide the RSS icon if you like, by adding this custom CSS:
.rsswidget img { display: none; }I have the site private now so not sure best way to let you be able to see it.
Staff can view private sites. :)

Thank you so much! I went to CSS Customization in customizer; however I have no idea how to add
.rsswidget img {
display: none;
}to hide it?

Hi, I checked your customizer and see that you have gotten the CSS added. If you have additional questions, please let us know.
