rss feed/link from website to blog?
-
Greetings volunteers, and thank you for sharing your time and expertise.
I am in the midst of rebuilding my site, and would like to add a feed to my wordpress blog. What is the snippet of code that makes that possible?
Sorry if I am asking a question that others may have already asked a gazillion times before, but I have read thru Support and searched Forums quite thoroughly, and I am not seeing my soln. I greatly appreciate the free WP hosting, and do not want to host my own blog, eg, wordpress.org/com difference. I do not want full posts or comments to show, just teaser posts with the first XX number of characters before linking to the blog for more, something like the WP widget on LinkedIn.
Thanks in advance for your suggestions/wisdom.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

You can add a RSS widget to your sidebar and feed it from your other web site. It will only show the title of the posts.
You can not add a RSS widget or feed to a Page or Post – that is the favorite tactic of Spam blogs and those blogs that just plain steal content, WordPress.COM does not want their site to turn into a massive collection of spam junk.

Sorry, you misunderstood my question, but thank you for trying to answer it. I’m not trying to add the RSS widget to my blog page. I am trying to add a feed on my website that is fed with my wordpress blog – opposite direction. I am not trying to add spam to either my website or my blog, nor am I trying to steal my own content. :-)

You want your own blog to show it’s RSS feed in the Sidebar? If so try the RSS Widget referrenced above to your sidebar and put your own feed into it. I have never tried it but should work.
However there is a “Recent Posts” Widget that has your last XX number of Posts (fill in the number of Posts you want to display) you you have published, again in the Sidebar and shows the headline of your Posts. I have used this one several times to make it easier for visitors to see recent Posts I have done?
I am closer to what you want to do??

No, sorry, my blog is not my website. Website=hosted elsewhere. I would like to link to my wordpress blog from my website, but a link that includes a teaser feed (from the blog).
Oh, [blush] I see I did say that backwards in my topic heading. Maybe better worded: Link on website to blog that is fed by blog?
I was expecting some little snippet of code that I could place in the div and style to my heart’s content with CSS, but maybe for security reasons this can’t be done?

You will have to write something in PHP or javascript to do that. Here are a couple options:

Thank you, timethief! I’ll check those out. Fabulous hair, btw.
Off-topic, but out of curiosity, how do you steal from time?

So you want to post your latest blog posts to your website?
If my understanding is correct then you will need to connect to your wordpress blog and then run a query to pull out the posts. Here is what I have you may be able to use it or use it as something to work from.
<?PHP define ('WP_USE_THEMES', false); require('PATH TO / wp-load.php'); query_posts ('showposts=2'); ?>This bit connects to the wordpress blog and lets me set the number of blog posts to display.
Then in a div somewhere in your page wherever you want to display the post snippet you can put the following
<div id="fromblog"> <?PHP while (have_posts()) : the_post();?> <h2><a href="<?PHP the_permalink() ?>"> <?PHP the_title(); ?></a></h2> <p><?PHP the_excerpt(); ?></p> <p>POSTED by: <?PHP the_author(); ?> on <?PHP the_time('jS F Y'); ?></p> <?PHP endwhile; ?></div>This pulls out the post title with the link to your blog and also the excerpt and post meta.
Hope this helps and is what you are looking for. You may have to fiddle around with it but this works on my website when I pull in articles from the blog.

Hi! What I’m wondering is how to link my blog to my Facebook business page. I know how to get to the proper area on Facebook, but then when it asks for the link, I think I need an RSS to put in the box. I don’t know what mine is or where to find it. (Silly Mama.) ANY help would be GREATLY appreciated. THANKS!
