RSS feeds for private blog
-
I am an administrator for a private blog on wordpress.com, and find I am unable to subscribe to RSS feeds (e.g. Thunderbird gives an “invalid feed” error, Google reader cannot find feeds). Is there any way for registered blog users to subscribe to feeds for my blog? I imagine some form of authentication would be involved…
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Feeds for your blog do not exist. WordPress.com private blogs do not have feeds, otherwise anyone could get around your privacy protection by just typing in the URL of your blog and adding /feed to it and subscribing.
I am not entirely sure, but I believe the Subscribe By Email option does work if you use the Subscribe widget

Right… I thought there might be something like “authenticated RSS” that could restrict subscribers for a specific feed – in my case, to (registered) subscribers to my blog. Oh well, shall check email subscription.
Thanks.

Some Googling reveals that there is such thing as authenticated RSS but (a) most RSS clients don’t support it (e.g. Google reader, Thunderbird, …) and in any case (b) WordPress doesn’t appear to implement it. Interesting article on the subject:
