RSS/ Feeds help for newbie
-
Hi there,
I’m a blogging newbie and am going cross eyed reading WordPress and Feedburner FAQs trying to figure out something about my feed.
I notice with other people’s feeds when I click on my live bookmark for them, there are multiple listings of their blog posts.
With mine however (http://www.mooimadeit.wordpress.com), only the latest post is displayed.
Essentially I would like to change this so:
– my email subscribers just to receive my latest post in their blog update feed
– my online feed subscribers to be able to see multiple listings of my previous say, 10, postsIs this possible?
Hopefully that made sense!

Your email subscribers only receive email of new posts each day or since the previous email. Your feedburner feed reflects the number of posts you want to be in your wordpress feed, as specified in Settings>reading.
So yes, they can be different.

Hm well see the problem is that I did change my settings> reading to:
Syndication feeds show the most recent = 10
And it ended up emailing out to my subscribers 10 posts in one email, but starting with the oldest.
I did see however, that it made a difference to the number of posts that were coming up in my Firefox feed.
So I don’t want to bombard all my email subscribers with such a large post again so I have changed it back to 1 but now of course, only 1 post is coming up in my Firefox feed again.
Any more clues?

If the 10 were part of an initial email, I suppose that makes sense and subsequent emails would include only what you’ve posted since the last email. I don’t remember what went out in my first email update, sorry
I assume you’ve subscribed by email so you can monitor the situation?

Ah yes I see, thanks. I think I panicked too soon and didn’t wait for the subsequent emails so I have deactivated my email subscribers while I do a couple of tests on myself first –
Thanks for your help!
