rss full feed with more tag
-
There is some syndication that depends on the rss feed being full.
Is it true that the
<!--more-->(read the rest of this entry) tag will prevent the full feed? And does the wordpress hit counter register a hit from a full rss feed?
Thanks a lot to anyone who could clarify.

Yes, it is true that truncating your posts with the More tag will truncate your feed as well. The WP hit counter registers feed hits regardless of whether it’s a full feed or truncated feed.

No, it’s not. Not any more. It stopped truncating the feed a while ago. (Can’t find the thread on that right now.)

Don’t mean to hijack the thread but I have a question. Do post revisions automatically get sent out via rss feed. For e.g. let’s say there was a spelling mistake and I corrected it on my blog, does the corrected post replace the old one or is there now a second copy of the post.
Don’t know if i’m explaining this correctly. I’ve been searching the forum for an answer but I haven’t had a hit yet.
-
Vivian: really? I thought it went to automatically truncating the feed and everyone screamed about that.
@ drmayhem, I believe there’s a second copy of the post sent out IF people have not yet checked their feed. If they saw your old one and then you subsequently edit the post, they see the new one too.

@drmayhem – that depends on the feed reader. I’ve seen some that do and some that don’t.
@rain – I hunted last night for the original thread that I posted when I first noticed the change. Finally located it https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/more-tag-fixed?replies=19#post-164721
