RSS Icon Not Showing Up
-
Hello,
I’m at raspberrie.wordpress.com. I have read faq’s and forum instructions and tried to follow steps in adding RSS icon in my test widget. It is not showing up. Thanks for your help!

There is a problem with the images server right now. See the sticky at the top of the forum

It’s in a text widget at the top of the page but the formatting is really screwed up. This is what I see:
<a href="//raspberrie.wordpress.com/feed”"><img src="”image-location”" /></a>t14.pngThe image source (img src) should be the actual url of the image, not the words “image-location”. And note that you have some extra quote marks in there.
Looks like you read the FAQ at least part of the way but not the whole thing. Here’s what it should look like:
<a href="http://raspberrie.wordpress.com/feed"><img src="http://faq.files.wordpress.com/2006/11/t14.png"></a> -
To put any image in your sidebar, including the RSS icon, you need to follow the instructions in this thread:
http://faq.wordpress.com/2006/10/18/put-an-image-in-your-sidebar/You need to make sure the image is in webspace and has a URL, in this case WordPress has already uploaded it for you and its URL is http://faq.files.wordpress.com/2006/11/t14.png . Then you need to put that in your widget using the image code img and add the code to make it a clickable link to your feed, which is at http://raspberrie.wordpress.com/feed . It’s a two-step process.

Thank you so much Vivian. I did read the whole thing (more than once), but got very confused when it did not work, and that is where I messed it up. Is there a way to put the icon below copyscape under its own heading “RSS Feed”? Thanks again.

Hello again,
http//raspberrie.wordpress.com
I thought my problem was solved, but just tried the RSS icon and it does not link to anything. I tried logging out and it still appears frozen.
Thanks for more help.

This is the only code you’ve put in there:
<br /><a><img src="http://faq.files.wordpress.com/2006/11/t14.png"></a> </div>You need to put not only the IMAGE but also the proper
<a hrefcode. See Vivian’s post above for the proper code. -
I apologize for appearing to be so dense. I obviously do not understand code. I followed Vivian’s post (I think). Now when I click, the RSS feed opens to bookmark. Not sure what I did wrong. Thank you for holding my hand so patiently. Sorry.

It’s behaving fine for me. It opens to the browser subscription page. Were you expecting it to behave differently?

Thanks Raincoaster and justjennifer. Is it just suppose to show a bookmark link? I thought it was suppose to open to a feed page. When I’ve linked to other feeds that’s what it did. This must be the longest help page in the history of wordpress. Lol. Anyway, if it’s working correctly, great.
