RSS Image Content in Sidebar
-
I have selected the “include item content” option for some of the RSS feeds displayed on my blog. However, the images are displayed as code, here’s a screen shot: http://djkonservo.files.wordpress.com/2008/05/sidebar_rss_content.png
Other than the styling I’ve added to my sidebars and images in general, I have made some alterations to the Flickr widget, I don’t know why that would screw things up, though.
Does anyone have experience with this problem? Any suggestions or help would be great.

Thanks

Probably the item content is “sanitized” to prevent code injection. That’s the WordPress.com Health and Safety department.

If you look in the source code, you’ll see that the image link is not correct. Rather than the symbol for less than and greater than showing, there’s < and >, so no link to the image. If this is wp.com “sanitizing” the image link in the feed, I couldn’t say.
Is this a recent development or was it always this way?

Ahahaha. Sorry, forgot the backticks. My above post should not show the symbol. It shows in the source code
<and>Hope that comes through correctly this time. -

here you go this link should help you with the image problem
Put your feed in your sidebar -
deltafoxtrot,
If it is being sanitized, it’s hard to see why “Display item content” would be an option on the RSS widget.
justjennifer,
The source code for both the feed and the blog show both the
<and the>(i.e. “& l t ;” and “& g t ;”)
Hmm…
And, yes, this is new. When WP.com revamped things new options were added to the RSS widgets.
gamehq,
This is a different problem. I can put images in my sidebar myself, however, images in feed content are not coming through.
Thanks for the ideas, all.

I put “sanitized” in quotes because it’s obviously done without pictures in mind. That sucks.
