rss nonstandard port tls 1.2
-
Hi there.
I was trying to add rss to my self-hosted blog onto my wordpress.com blog but its not working. By not working I mean this:
1) The correct rss url to a working wordpress blog is provided
https://andrzejl.eu:30303/wordpress/feed/
2) WordPress.com blog tells me its down. Its not.
3) No connection attempts are being logged by nginxI assume that one of the two factors has something to do with the ‘not working’ part.
Its either the fact that I am using non-standard port 30303 or its the fact that I only allow communication over a strong crypto (TLS 1.2) with my site.
https://www.ssllabs.com/ssltest/analyze.html?d=andrzejl.eu
I don’t see _ANY_ attempts to connect (failed or successful) to the rss feed in my nginx logs so I am assuming its failing before even reaching that far.
Question. What can be done about it.
Cheers.
Andrzej
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Another possible point of failure here is that I do not allow any indexing bots to my site (google, bing etc.) is wordpress.com using any of that to grab the entries from the rss feed?
Cheers.

Hi there,
Are you referring to enabling and RSS widget on a wordpress.COM blog? If so, then see here please https://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/rss-widget/ -
Please consult the Troubleshooting section here as well https://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/rss-widget/#troubleshooting
-
Aha…
“Feed URLs that start with “https://” will not work on our RSS Widget.”
That explains it.
Thanks.
