RSS Orange Not Showing Up on my site
-
I added the RSS widget to my site but don’t see the orange RSs feed on my site. How can I make it appear? I’m using Redoable Lite.

Adding an RSS widget doesn’t add the orange RSS feed icon link for your own site. However, adding the Meta widget adds the RSS feed icon. If you know how to code it, you can also use a Text widget.
RSS widgets allow you to add other people’s feeds in your sidebar. You can see several examples of this in the sidebar on my site.

Let me correct myself. Apparently, not every theme’s Meta widget is the same! I’m using Cutline for my main blog and the Meta widget adds a feed for posts and comments individually (without the icon). However, in one of my other blogs, the Meta widget doesn’t display feed for either posts or comments. My apologizes for misleading you. (mia culpa)
However, try adding the Meta widget to your theme and see what you get in your sidebar. You can always remove it if the RSS icon doesn’t show up.

thanks Jennifer – appreciate your taking the time/energy to help! I did try it and the RSS orange box did not show up. oh well

Glad to help. I see that the Meta widget in Redoable Lite does add links to RSS feeds for posts and comments, if not the icon itself.
FWIW-the RSS icon in the Monotone photoblog theme changes color with the background.

Does it really? I hadn’t noticed that.
I’ve always found that using the RSS widget the orange icon shows up. Perhaps it’s a problem with WP.com’s icon hosting server?
Perhaps the icons are stripped out in that theme? You could try switching to a different, widget-enabled theme for a minute, checking, and switching back. You won’t lose anything that way.

(Hi rain, I did just that. Not all themes show the RSS icon, even if the feed is available in the Meta widget. As far as Monotone, I’m throwing out a guess that the icon is somewhat transparent so the page’s background color shows through.)
