RSS – “Page not found”; please help
-
I’ve searched the forums quite a bit (but if I have missed this question then apologies).
My blog is: http://averbatimreader.wordpress.com/
Following the FAQs and other threads on this forum I was able to add an RSS feed icon on my blog. But when I click on it, it shows a “Page not found”. Am I doing something wrong? It’s quite possible; I’ve been at this a while. I’d appreciate the help.
The text I fed into the Text Widget was:
<img src=”http://faq.files.wordpress.com/2006/11/a28.png”>
Thanks in advance.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

That is indeed the wrong thing to put in the text widget.
You need to put this in;
<a href="http://averbatimreader.wordpress.com/feed><img src="http://faq.files.wordpress.com/2006/11/a28.png" /></a>You have to add the image and the feed link.

Thanks for that, but actually I did add that in the box…for some reason only the above was copied and pasted
<img src=”http://faq.files.wordpress.com/2006/11/a28.png” />
Hopefully you can see it properly now; if not – it’s exactly what you wrote in the post above me and yet I still can’t access it.

No, I can’t; code has to be pasted between backlinks in order to display here in the forum.
The usual problem is, you’ve got curly quotes instead of plain ones; that will give an error. Delete the quotes and type them in again by hand instead of copy/pasting them and that might fix it.

You mean
<a><img src="http://faq.files.wordpress.com/2006/11/a28.png" /></a>…Can you see that?
I tried the curly/straight quotes thing…still nothing.

I can see it, but no, it won’t work. See the part with the a in brackets? That a needs more code, it’s the part of the whole thing that tells it where to link to, in this case your feed, which is http://averbatimreader.wordpress.com/feed
Without the destination in the proper format, it’ll never work.

Ok, I’ve tried it again. Can you access my RSS now?
