Rules for skipping a line does not work sometimes!!!!

Having trouble with skipping lines again. Specifically, at this article: http://lornakismet.wordpress.com/2009/09/26/arizona-moves-to-oppose-obama%E2%80%99s-expected-health-care-mandates/

I was told that if I select the entire text and then click “Paragraph,” a blank line will be formatted between paragraphs. Sometimes this happens and sometimes it does not! This time it has not. What it’s doing is: After I select All and then Click “Paragraph“ and then click ”Publish,“ during that time, those skipped lines disappear and the text reverts to what it was, with paragraphs all jammed together and no lines to separate them.

There are times when, if the above does not happen, I go to HTML mode and type <p> and </p> surrounding the paragraphs. Then I go down one line and type <p></p> to skip that line. Sometimes this works and sometimes it does not!

Well, I just fixed it. I typed <p></p> in between the paragraphs and this time it formatted blank lines between the paragraphs.

But this does not always work! It’s maddening.

When this happens, it typically means that for format is not set to “paragraph.”

First make sure that “WordPress should correct invalidly nested XHTML automatically” is set at settings > writing.

If the lines between paragraphs don’t show up, select everything in the post in the editor window, then on the left end of the lower toolbar in the visual editor, select “paragraph” from the pulldown. That typically will fix the issue.

    Dear Sacred Path…
I know :-) …………….and that bedeviling word is “typically.” But thankfully, WordPress has a support system.

    Whew.
