running script causes freeze up of page

Can anyone tell me why my computer constantly freezes every time I am on wordpress, window internet explorer says their is a script running on this page that if left running will cause your computer to become unresponsive, and then my computer freezes up for long periods of time. I click stop script and in a few minutes it starts all over again this is extremely annoying and takes for ever to get anything done.Thanks to any responses
