Sabotage of site address for SinCityFinancier.wordpress.com

  • Unknown's avatar

My site address since 2010 has been SinCityFinancier.wordpress.com. The day I attempt to go premium suddenly the site address has been ‘changed’. I have attempted to correct this using the site address button. Which does NOT work. I also tried to install SEO button which failed. I have told WP about this 5x so far. Nothing but runaround. Why am I supposed to fix WP’s platform anyhow?
Should I just get a refund instead of playing games?

    WP.com: Yes
    Jetpack: No
    Correct account: Yes

  • Hey there,

When you install a plugin or theme, your domain will change. Plugin-enabled sites use the .wpcomstaging.com address instead of a .wordpress.com address. We share a notice of this change when upgrading the site:

The previous address sincityfinancier.wordpress.com is automatically redirected to the new address. If you want to use the .wordpress.com address we can revert the site for you, which will remove all third-party themes and plugins. To use plugins again, you would need to change the URL again.

Another solution would be to use a custom domain, which can be connected to your site regardless of the site being .wordpress.com or .wpcomstaging.com. When you own a custom domain, no one else can use or change it and you can direct it to your site so long as the registration is current:
