Sad about new "My Sites"
-
I will try to describe my user experience in hopes that your people in charge of updating things considers this in the future please.
In the past, when I logged in, one click / drop-down menu brought me to my dashboard. From there, at a glance, I could see what matters most to me: a nice overview about what’s going on with my blog (stats, comments, updates), and what I want to do next.
Now it’s taking me FOUR clicks to get to my dashboard. I log in, and it brings me to a page called “Blogs I follow.” This is one of my LEAST priorities as a site owner… if I follow a blog, I already get an email about their posts. Why do I need this page / this interruption?
Then I look around to decide what to do next / where to click. There’s no link on this page for Dashboard. I don’t want Stats. I mouse over my icon and none of those drop-down choices are anything I want. Closest thing I can find to what I want is “My Sites,” so I click on that.
And that brings me to yet another page to click around on… still with no choice for the Dashboard. Sure, this visual approach for My Sites is easy to understand, but it’s no easier than the drop-down menu I used to get under my icon that listed my sites and allowed me, with ONE click, to go to the site I wanted.
So I click again to my site. And… it takes me to the public view. In a new tab / window no less (why?). And STILL no Dashboard.
But finally on the public view of my site, I see something I recognize… the familiar charcoal bar at the top, where I’m able to mouse over my blog page name (upper left) to find the Dashboard. And I click on that.
So this is now… FOUR clicks to do what I used to accomplish in one. I feel like I’m being “sold” to with Blogs I Follow, and if your designers feel like this log in path is “faster and more efficient,” then they must be doing things very differently from the way I’ve always done them.
Just voicing my opinions here… I still appreciate all that you do for us, the time it takes you to handle our requests and issues and bugs… but please… don’t make upgrades unless they actually BENEFIT our processes, and truly improve usability. I don’t need “pretty,” I need something that lets me get my job done efficiently.
Thanks…

I guess I should have titled this “Sad About New Login Process and Pathway” or something, not sure how to title it…
