I am beyond overwhelmed with the level of support from happiness engineers. It is so clear that they are not interested in trying to help or find a solution for you. most of them are trying to find a few links to send to you which is already available in the search. and it is very clear from your question that are aware of it. They also dont read your question properly. they look at key words, and send you a link about the issue. you have to re repeat a few times minimum.
While some of them try to help and look for a few options for you, mainly they will give you a superficial solution, not tell you that this solution has certain limitation.
I think most of them dont add much value, you end up going through links, trying different options, it doesnt work for some reason, but they cant foresee that, because they are only focused on giving you a quick fix and end the chat. you have to go back try another solution until you realize it isnt working. and try again.
You might as well do the same, trial and error and learn it. What is their added value? If you are upgrading for premium or business for the sake of support i would think twice .
If you complain and let them know that you are not happy with the support, they are quite rude and laid back. I dont feel like i am getting customer service.
Last agent that i spoke with actually told me we are not gonna do the work for you, just go and read the links! i wasnt asking to do anything for me, i was askign what is the difference between a shortcode and plugin. Said it was not their job.

Plugins often use shortcodes too and some people find plugins easier to work with, but you would need a Business plan here at WordPress.com to use them though. -
