Sample Page
-
Hello there, I have recently started blogging and have noticed that the label ‘Sample Page’ appears at the top of my page, when clicked another site comes up. This next site is one about deleting the page and making a new one using it as an example page meant to be deleted, my question is, do I need to do that and if I do delete it will all of my content be deleted also.
Thank youWP.com: Yes

Hi there, thanks for bringing this up. Bitácora, the theme you’re using, is pretty new and is using the site editor. As far as I can tell, that “sample page” might be part of the theme’s navigation menu. To remove it from appearing there, you’d need to edit the header navigation. https://wordpress.com/support/site-editing/theme-blocks/navigation-block/
What might be simpler is to see if that page is listed in your Dashboard>Pages https://wordpress.com/pages/lettergatherer.wordpress.com If you change the Page from Published to a draft that link should disappear. You can do that by opening the page to edit it and then clicking on the button at the top right of your screen that says “Switch to draft”. You’ll need to confirm on the next window.
I’m also going to flag Staff to bring this to their attention because the sample page doesn’t exist in the theme demo.

And just to be clear that “Sample Page” is not another site, but a Page that exists on your site https://lettergatherer.wordpress.com/sample-page/ You can either revert it to a draft or delete it without it having an impact on your existing content.

Hi there!
@justjennifer summed it up perfectly. You’d want to remove the page from here: https://wordpress.com/pages/lettergatherer.wordpress.com. It’s just a sample page, to show you how things work :)
