sapor theme add column instead of menu

i want to add a column on the left of my page instad of a menu at the top that includes, social icons, about me, recent posts etc.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi there,

If you want to remove the menu at the top of the sidebar in the Sapor theme, you can remove any menu linked to the Main Menu from the Menu Locations option (under Menus in the Site Customizer). To do this, click on Customize (next to Themes) from the My Sites tab, click on Menu, then click on View All Locations under Menu Locations. Make sure the Main Menu is showing the -Select- text rather than a named menu.

Alternatively you could create a blank Custom Menu and link this to the Main Menu (under Menus in the Site Customizer).

If you want any menu further down the sidebar, you can add it via a Widget (in Customizer -> Widgets), and you can add any other Widget in this area as well (Recent Posts, Social Icons and Text or Custom HTML to add some ‘About Me’ text).

Is this what you were looking to do?

Thank you! another question, how do i get rid of the word “show” where my menu is at the top? Your a life saver im stressed lol

  • You’re welcome!
I am not seeing the word ‘show’ on or around your menu (or anywhere) – I’m guessing you resolved this (or this is only showing when you are logged in)?

it could be just when im logged in. Im not sure lol. Another thing is when i click on the menu there are little icons that show up, one is a refresh and the rest are “w”s. They are located just above the home button. How do i get rid of those.

    thank you again

  • Those links are part of the Social Links Menu. Under Menus in your Site Customizer, if you click on View All Locations under Menu Locations, you may have a menu selected under your Social Links Menu. You’d need to make sure this is showing ‘- Select -‘ instead of any custom menus. Once you’ve done that you should only have your Widgets showing up in the sidebar, and you can control the order they show up by dragging and dropping them whilst in the Widgets editor in the Site Customizer. Hope this helps!

okay great, I changed that. I also added widgets to my sidebar but the recents posts, gallery widgets are not showing up when I view my website. Any suggestions for that? I hope your getting paid good for all these questions lol.

  • Hi Kaily,

I can think of two possible reasons for this – one is that you need to make sure you are pressing the Publish button after you’ve added the widgets, otherwise they won’t save or show up on the page and you will need to re-add them again if you navigate away from the Widgets section.

The other is that the Recent Posts widget and Gallery widgets are not showing up because you don’t have a gallery to add (you can add a gallery from within the widget itself) nor do you necessarily have any recent posts. Once you have those it should work. I was able to add those widgets without issue on a Sapor themed site.

I’m just a volunteer in these forums. I hope these suggestions help!
