Save and use deleted theme on either wordpress.com or wordpress.org

    I have an old WordPress.org blog under a different account that has the only theme I like. But WordPress has deleted it. I’ve gone through every currently available theme and none are similar. Trust me, there’s none like it.

    Is there a way to save or download the theme, then apply it to another existing blog? If it means I have to use wordpress.com and get my own hosting I will do that because it’s so much better than any current theme.

    First, I think you have .com and .org mixed up. WordPress.org is the self-hosted one and WordPress.com is the free one. You’re using WordPress.com at the moment for http://somethingtoread.wordpress.com/
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

    If a WordPress.com theme has been retired it cannot be applied to new blogs any longer. That’s because those themes don’t support the newer features on WordPress anymore and that makes them progressively more unstable over time. There’s no way to download and upload themes on WordPress.com. http://en.support.wordpress.com/themes/adding-new-themes/

    If you are considering self-hosting, you’ll have to search the theme directories on WordPress.org to see if the theme is available there. Themes on WordPress.com work completely differently from themes with the same name on WordPress.org, and you can’t use a .com theme for a .org blog or vice versa.
