Save Draft button
-
Hey, I logged in wordpress.com, wanted to write a post so I followed the flow the site shows: click huge button on the right top corner that says New Post > > Click “Text” > Write whatever you want (I was a long time without blogging, felt inspired and wrote A THOUSAND WORDS!) > Click save draft > close the window.
Then come back to find out that there’s no way to save from that screen. How’s that possible?? Can you please remove that button if it doesn’t have any functionality in it. Or please, do say to me that I can recover that text. Feeling SAD. :(

If the post was created on the dashboard of your own blog at Dashboard > Posts > All Posts > Add New then you ought to be able to recover a lost post or page from revisions if needs be.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/posts/post-revisions/
See also if applicable > restoring from trash http://en.support.wordpress.com/trash/#restoring-from-trash(If you are referring to a Page then see here > http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/page-revisions/)
But if the post was created here http://wordpress.com/#!/post/ there is no means of recovery as the auto-save is not functioning there.
Always create your posts on the dashboard of your own blog at
Dashboard > Posts > All Posts > Add New
The auto-save works there and the post will be Standard post format unless you change it.Do not create posts here > http://wordpress.com/#!/post/ where the auto-save is not working and where you are creating an Aside post format.
Use an offline blog editor so you have backups on your own computer http://en.support.wordpress.com/xml-rpc/

Why in earth would you give the user a button that has no function in it, please, tell me. Take that out or implement it properly immediately. I can’t believe I trusted WordPress to save my content. Again.

Hi there,
Have you tried to recover the post revision using the instructions I posted above? When links are not active that indicates a browser related issue.
1. If you are not running one of the browsers and versions listed at http://browsehappy.com/ please try upgrading or switching first.
2. If you are using an IE browser in compatibility mode please disable that mode. http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/1196-internet-explorer-compatibility-view-turn-off.html
3. If you are running one of the browsers and versions listed at http://browsehappy.com/
(a) Try clearing your browser’s cache http://www.google.com/support/accounts/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=32050
If applicable see here for instructions on how to clear the cache for Chrome and Safari on the iPad:
http://browsers.about.com/od/howtousemobilebrowser1/ss/safari-ipad-clear-cache.htm
http://browsers.about.com/od/howtousemobilebrowser1/ss/How-To-Clear-Browsing-Data-In-Chrome-For-Ipad_6.htm(b) Make sure that you have both third-party cookies enabled and JavaScript enabled
http://en.support.wordpress.com/third-party-cookies/
http://www.google.com/adsense/support/bin/answer.py?answer=12654(c) Disable all browser extensions or add-ons temporarily.
(d) Try enabling HTTPS: http://en.support.wordpress.com/https/
Add both *.wordpress.com and *.wp.com to your list of trusted sites under the Security tab. Make sure to uncheck the box for “Require server verification (https:) for all sites in this zone.” http://en.support.wordpress.com/https/#frequently-asked-questions
4. Try using another browser.
5. If you are not successful let us know:
(a) Exactly what kind of device you are using to connect to the internet and to WordPress.com.
(b) Exactly which browser (and version of it) you’re using by checking here if necessary http://www.whatbrowser.org/
(c) Exactly what any error reports you receive state. -
Yes, I did. And I posted it at http://wordpress.com/#!/post/ and if that place is not functioning then it should not exist.

Hi @nataliarsand – you can save a draft from there! It’s just that it’s stored in your Dashboard here:
https://nataliarsand.wordpress.com/wp-admin/edit.phpIs that the draft you’re looking for?
