Save draft button missing
-
Since yesterday, whenever I open any of my published posts, the save draft button is missing. After doing the necessary changes, I wanted to publish the changes and clicked Update. This was the only button available. After doing that, all my changes were lost and the post was the same as before. I tried doing this a lot of times to no avail.
After a lot of time spent on trying to get it working, finally i found a workaround. First makr your published posts status as “draft”. Then open it and do the changes. Click publish and the post is published correctly. This is a hell lot of work!!! I do not want to do this workaround. I want the poblem to be fixed ASAP.
Can someone just fix this for me. It was working fine before yesterday.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

If a post is already published, the save as draft button will not appear as the post has already been published.
Try this. Log out of wordpress, clear your browser cache and cookies, restart your browser and then try again.
Also if you have one installed, try a different browser and also let us know what browser and browser version you were having troubles with.

thanks for the response. I am experiencing this issue on all browsers and different machines also.
My main issue is not with the save draft button, but that i cannot do any changes directly to a already published post. I was able to do this earlier.

You know I’m going to suggest that you pick up and start using one of the blog editor clients such as Windows Live Writer or Blogdesk (both free downloads for Windows) or Ecto for Mac (not free, but at $20 it doesn’t break the bank either). Then you can write, publish and edit right from your own computer and bypass the wordpress editor. The bonus using one if these is that it also saves a copy of the post on your computer.

Hi thesacredpath. thanks again
yup, i tried cleaning the cache and cookies as well.
I know a blog editor client is a good way to write, but i do not understand is what was very much working a few days back has stopped working now…
Its a simple requirement that you can update your already published post without the need to mark it as a draft.

Well staff is on one of their brainstorming and coding retreats right now, so the fact that there are some bugs cropping up is not surprising. They generally do. They do monitor the forums during these blitzes so I’m sure they are aware of the problem and are probably working on it. The problem is, I’m on FF 5.0.1 like some that are complaining and I’m not able to reproduce the issue, so it could be a little difficult for them to track down, but I’m sure they are working on it.

Ok. I’ll give it a few days to get it fixed. If it does not get solved, i’ll post here again.
