Saved draft not saved
-
I was writing my first post for a new forum, it was long, a page or two. I saw that it was being saved
as I was working on it. When I went to publish it there was some error, (working offline was checked
under the file menu ) then when I tried to go back to my blog, the post was not published and was not also
saved as a draft. I saw it was being saved as I was working on it, is there anyway to recover this post, it’s important.
:(The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

NEVER have your browser set to “work offline” when working with an online editor such as that used at wordpress.
-
Yes, in my browser. That’s what the error said, then i went under file and unchecked it. But I was online, and logged into my blog. I dont see why that happened. Is there anyway to recover the post? If it was saving it why isn’t in my drafts? I need help :(
-
I didn’t know it was checked, I didn’t select to work offline. maybe my child did when
playing on the computer, is there anything I can do? -
Go to posts > edit and open the post. At the bottom of the screen should be a section called “post revisions” expand that section and look in there.
Also when making posts, do not rely completely on the autosave, if you are, always hit the save button and hit it often.
The safest way is to get and use a blog client such as Windows Live Writer or Blogdesk (both free and for windows) or Ecto or MarsEdit ($20 and $30 respectively for Mac) and you will never have this problem since they save your posts right on your computer. They also automatically upload images you insert into the posts, and you publish directly from the blog editor bypassing the wordpress editor completely.

The post did not save as a draft nor did it publish to my blog. When I went to edit the “hello world” post it only has that one default post under “post revisions”. It did not save any part of the post I wrote. I dowloaded blogdesk but am unable to add my
blog, I am getting the following error, XML parsing error: Invalid procedure or call argument
:( -
Make sure you are using the right settings. See this: http://support.wordpress.com/xml-rpc/ .

I have been using WP for years and recently cannot get “Save Draft” to work. The first time that I hit it, it saves the draft. If I do it again, the screen refreshes (as if it is saving) but then reverts back to the original save.
To work around this, I “select all” and copy every so often. I can preview the page with no problems and post the article with no problems, just my “Save Draft” no longer works.
Any thoughts?

Log out of wordpress, clear your browser cache and cookies, restart your browser and then try again.
Also, what browser and browser version are you using?
-
This has been a problem for weeks, so several reboots of computer, etc. has been performed.
I am running current version of firefox.
Thanks for any suggestions.
-
Do you by chance have the “no script” add-on installed in FF? It has been known for messing up a lot of stuff at wordpress since the editor is written in javascript.
Also, in FF, go to preferences > content and make sure that javascript is enabled.
Have you tried a different browser to see if you can save from a different browser?
-
Thanks again and you helped me identify a target.
I do not have the “no script” add on.
I do have javascript enabled. But my editor saves fine in IE8.
So the problem has something to do with FF…
-
IE8 does not have the “no script” add-on which is why it saves.
Disable the “no script” add-on, restart firefox and you will see that your problem is gone.
What is the URL of your blog?
-
-
I decided to disable my add-ons, one at a time to see if anything changed. Once I disabled the “Skype” add-on, the drafts were saving and all is back to normal.
-
Oh, I forgot about the Skype add-on. It actually interferes with a whole host of things, not just wordpress.COM, it’s just that the interference here is very apparent.
