Saving

Someone please help me as I am beside myself. I had been typing for an hour. I was logged in. I went to Save as Draft. It made me login to do that – whcih I don;t understand as I was alread logged in. It saved only the first few paragraphs of what was an extensive posting that I had worked hard on and will be hard-pressed to recreate. How the hell do I prevent that from ever happening again?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Anytime you are doing work “online” where what you are doing is saved over the internet to a remote server, this can happen. There are literally hundreds of things between you and the wordpress servers that can cause this issue to occur.
Two possibilities:
1. Before clicking the save button, switch to the HTML tab, select everthing in that window, and click copy it to your clipboard (ctrl-a Windows or command-a Mac). Then if your connection has an issue, you can past everything back into the HTML window and try again. You can go one step further if you wish and paste it into a plain text editor for added security.
2. Use an offline blog client application:
Windows: Windows Live Writer or BlogDesk (both free downloads)
Mac: Ecto (around $20US) or MarsEdit (around $30 US)For more on blog client applications see this post: http://onecoolsite.wordpress.com/2007/10/26/offline-blog-editors-reviews/ . Offline blog clients save your work to your computer hard drive, so if something happens, you always have a copy of it on your computer.
