Saving a Draft

  • Unknown's avatar

I am not ready to publish my site yet. I want to have a few blog posts ready first. There is no ‘save draft’ option when creating a post. It looks like the only option is to publish. Others have shown me the sidebar that comes up when creating a post, but I don’t have that. HELP PLS

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi there,

Basically, changes to your posts and pages are saved automatically every few seconds. Therefore, you don’t need to do anything when you leave the editing page for your posts; Everything is done behind the scene.

    Autosave
    https://en.support.wordpress.com/autosave/

However, if you want to save your blog post manually, you can click on “Save” on the top part of the editing page: https://cloudup.com/ci_t1_XQj2J.

I hope this info helps you.
    Thanks!

Thank you so much for your reply. My page doesn’t have the section your link showed with the ‘save’ button – hence my initial correspondence. I’d send you a screen shot but there’s no option to attach an image here.

When I’m writing a blog post I don’t have the ‘save draft’ option either. I’m not sure why my WordPress isn’t showing these options – is it bc I’m still on the ‘free’ version? Do I somehow need to update my WordPress (or would my login just automatically go to the latest version?).

Thanks for your patience but this issue is really annoying me

  • Hi again,

I’m always willing to assist you. No problem!

Since you sound like you need the ‘Save Draft‘ option which you can save your post manually, you should head to WP-admin via this link: https://urbanslutweb.wordpress.com/wp-admin/.

After logging in with your WordPress.com account, please go ‘Posts‘→’Add New‘. Then you see a clasical editor to create a post, and there is the ‘Save Draft‘ option in the right sidebar. Probably, this is what you want.

Please let me know if my advice works for you.
    Thanks :)

By the way, this is never relevant to the plan you currently have. Besides, when it comes to the version of WordPress.com, you don’t need to care about it at all. It is updated automatically behind the scene.

I think this is good to know for you.
    Thanks :)
