Saving a draft as a concept

    Hi all,
Using the Customizer editor after a few years away from WordPress, and some things are still perplexing me.

Once I’ve published a page, I’m not clear how to save a change to it without publishing it. I know Autosave exists (though I don’t see an alert telling me when the last Autosave occurred), and I can exit the browser tab and come back to it later and be prompted to restore the autosaved page, but I feel like there must be a more clearcut way to create saved drafts. I’ve checked the help and it’s not obvious to me.

Any steps most appreciated. I can try using the non-Customizer mode (where I can still simply use the dropdown to switch from Published to Draft) but I’d love to stay in the “improved” editor and understand better how it works.

    Thanks!

    Hi Dana,

This is Win from Everett :)

I think I understand what you’re trying to accomplish. Please check out this image.

    Customize Save Draft

There is a little gear button next to the published button when you made a change. Click on that and you can save it as Draft or Schedule a date for the change to apply.

Please do not hesitate to ask any questions you still have.
