Saving of draft failed not resolved by logging out or clearing cache/saved files

As name title indicates, I tried the common fixes and I still can’t save drafts or publish posts.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi there,

It looks like you’ve managed to publish several posts after posting this thread, but please let me know if you’re still having trouble with this.

No actually the posts were earlier in the day (early in the morning) and the problem arose later that same day. I’m not sure if my blog posts are time-stamped.

So to be clear, I still cannot post.

  • I don’t see anything wrong with your account or site that would prevent you from publishing posts or saving drafts.

Which editor are you using? The one at My Sites, or the WP-Admin dashboard? Does it make a difference if you use the other editor from what you normally use?

Can you please tell me exactly which browser and browser version you’re using? You can find that information here:

    http://supportdetails.com/

You mention already clearing the cache. Can you also please make sure JavaScript is enabled in your browser, and that you don’t have any browser add-ons active like ad blockers of tracking blockers that might be blocking JavaScript from working?

Lastly, please see if using a completely different browser makes any difference at all.

I am posting from https://wordpress.com/post/burndoubt.wordpress.com. I’m not sure what that is called from among the two versions you listed. How do I use the other one?
    Chrome 62.0.3202.94
    Windows 10 64 bit
    Flash not installed
    Javascript enabled
    Cookies enabled

I disabled adblock on that domain but it didn’t fix it
I tried firefox and it didn’t work

Okay it is working now. I thought I had an original post with actual words that would not save, but I’m guessing it was just an single bullet point with no text, as when I enter that now as a test, it still doesn’t post. But actual words do.

So note to users: Don’t test your wordpress posting capabilities with a single empty bullet point!

That’s the My Sites editor. When you look at My Sites you should see a link for WP-Admin at the bottom of the menu, or you can reach it by adding /wp-admin to the end of your site’s link

Thanks for letting me know it’s working now. You will need some text added to a post before you can post or save a draft, yes. Adding just a bullet point basically adds an empty HTML tag, but not text.

Having the same problem. Firefox and Chrome both do this if I try to copy a post for a new one. The message comes up within seconds. Doesn’t matter if the original post is draft, scheduled or published. Tried deleting everything from new post except text – still won’t save.

  • @mlawrence1966

It does not sound like the same problem. The OP was unable to save drafts due to the posts not containing any text content.

You are speaking of copying posts, which is a completely different feature. Please create your own thread, and include a link to your site, the exact browser version you’re using, the title of the post you’re trying to copy, and the exact text of the error message you’re seeing. Tag the thread with “modlook”, and a staff member will reply to you there.
