Saving widget arrangements and settings for current theme
-
Hi all!
I though of a feature that may would be useful.
I don’t tried it (or it was like, 1.5 years ago), but I guess that if you change your blog’s theme, you lose your widget setup, i.e. info about what widgets are CURRENTLY used, their arrangements, and settings. Now setting back everything to original would be some manual task. Including a note to write down positions and setting of each widget… :)
I don’t know for sure, but as I remember not all themes supports all widgets, this could also kick in the try-out of new themes.
The feature of (even temporarily) saving the widget setup – maybe on per-theme basis – would be great. This way people could try out new themes, without disrupting a functional and well-known (for the visitors) widget setup. Then, if the user wants to revert, he/she could press a button. Or WP could automagically bring back the previous theme’s widget setup.Any thoughts about this?
