Scaling an image fails 'Unable to save image'

  Some images (jpegs) in the blog’s library are larger than necessary e.g. 3264 x 2448. When attempting to scale them them to e.g.1024 x 768 results in the message ‘unable to save the image’. Still have 98.1% upload space remaining.so that cannot be the issue.

  Have tried several images with same result.

  Could you send us a screenshot of the page where you’re seeing this?

  Do you also encounter this issue in a different browser? for example Firefox or Internet Explorer?

  Have tried in IE 8 with same result.

  Wasn’t sure how to ‘send’ the screenshot as the emails are from a do not reply mailbox and cannot attach to the msg in this forum.

  Are you able to scale the image from within a post after inserting it?

  Cannot see the Scale option when using the edit from within a post. There is the option, of course, to display the image at different sizes but that is not what I am after. The image was already inserted in a post and I wondered if it was a locking issue, I am an old time IT professional. So I deleted it from the post and tried to Scale as before. Get same unable to save message.

  When you inset them into a post, you have the option to scale by percentage. Is that working for you?

  I cannot even see an option to ‘scale by percentage’ either when inserting from an image already in the library or loading a new image from my PC. I can see the option to

  display

  images at a different size but, of course, this does not change the original image size. Send me a screen snapshot of the ‘scale’ image option you are referring to and we’ll see if we can get on the same page.

  Ah, sorry, when the image is within a post, click it to edit it. You should see the scale options there: http://en.support.wordpress.com/images/image-settings/#within-posts
