SCAM
-
I really want to have my user account and email deleted from this site. I won’t accept that it can’t be deleted. Ever since creating an account/blog my personal email has been affected with some sort of virus or spoofing problem. Every link contains some sort of reference to a wordpress or gravatar item. MY EMAIL MUST BE ELIMINATED FROM THIS SITE.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Allow me to be clear – you can change your email address at any time. Alleging a scam exists when it doesn’t makes you appear to be playing cards without full deck. Exactly what’s stopping you from removing your email address and replacing it with a throw away email address?
Provided you are logged in under the username account that registered the blog you can delete the blog by using these instructions. http://en.support.wordpress.com/delete-site/
Although username accounts are not deleted, so you cannot be impersonated and have your reputation affected by anyone registering the same username in the future, there are steps you can take that amount to removing all personal information and result in leaving only a throwaway email address behind. http://en.support.wordpress.com/deleting-accounts/
1. You can go to My Account->Edit Profile and remove all data except the account name and an email address. Create a throwaway email address and change the account email to that throwaway address. This only leaves the username behind.
2. To unsubscribe from email sent to you from WordPress.com, go here and click on “Block all subscription emails from WordPress.com”:
http://wordpress.com/#!/following/subsettings/3. To ensure the account is locked up tightly, visit this site, generate a password of 15-20 characters, and change the account password to it:
http://www.thebitmill.com/tools/password.html4. While you cannot completely delete your Gravatar profile, you can remove all of your profile information easily through the “Edit My Profile” page here:
http://en.gravatar.com/profiles/edit/?noclose#about-youYou can also hide your Gravatar profile from external access. Visit your profile page (click your name in the top navigation of the website), then click the “Hide My Profile” link in the bottom, right-hand corner.

Why exactly can’t an account simply be deleted? Please don’t accuse me of being an idiot (i.e. not playing with a full-deck).
Obviously this site is guilty of unethical internet practices if it is:
a) unwilling to allow users to delete an account
b) promote dishonesty by encouraging the use of “fake” email accounts;
c) deceptive and cryptic about contacting the company (with the exception of a rude and disrespectful chat forum).Within 24 hours of my account being created, bogus emails were being sent from my personal email account (to everyone in my contact list) and somewhere in every link was a reference to wordpress or one of it’s affiliates. This is not acceptable.

I’m off work now and I re-read what you wrote. I think you could be reporting a hacked blog, hacked email account or both.
Go to your email program and change the password to a very difficult one because that’s how many hackers gain access to blogs
Read > http://en.support.wordpress.com/security/1. If you can log-in go here > Users > All Users and delete any user that does not belong there.
2. Disable post by email > http://en.support.wordpress.com/post-by-email/
3. Disable post by voice > http://en.support.wordpress.com/post-by-voice/
4. Change your blog password to a very difficult one > http://en.support.wordpress.com/passwords/#change-your-password
5. Use a secure, encrypted connection to connect to your Dashboard. Under Users → Personal Settings, check the box that says “Always use HTTPS when visiting administration pages, and click Save Changes.
P.S. I tagged this thread for Staff follow-up when I first replied above.

Have you checked your PC for a virus problem and changed your email password?
WordPress.COM does not have access to your email account – you don’t give the email password here when you open an account – no password or access to your PC then no access to your email account –
I don’t think the email problems are related or caused by WordPress.COM at all

Hi there – I’m very sorry you’ve had trouble with your site.
It looks like you’ve already deleted your site, but I will send you an email now so we can have a look at one of these “bogus emails” to see what might be happening.
