Scam when link clicked

  I was not logged into my website but needed to follow one of MY links to get to one of MY pages and Norton threw up a Scam warning. One presumes this was as a result of one of the adverts which show on my free site. What can you advise (other than paying to upgrade): do WordPress not filter the adverts which appear on their hosted pages?
