scan for broken links

WordPress really could do with a function that scans through the blog for broken links.
Yes, there are services that do this for you but:

*They activate all links, including DELETE post buttons, so if you are not logged out of your blog, you lose everything.
    *They mess up your Stats.
*They do not show as broken internal WordPress links such as having an image in a page link to a particular blog that is gone – you see an ‘Oops where did you get such a link’ page in WordPress, but it does not register as ‘broken’ to the external tool.

It is frustrating having to continually traul through 100s of blogs and pages, clicking on all the links to ensure they are all working.

Please give consideration to this function. Cheers.

Have you tried Google Webmaster Tools http://www.google.com/webmasters/ ?

yes I looked at it thanks. But it still does not show the ‘oops wherever did you get that link’ pages within wordpress – it sees it as a regular page. It shows as broken only the browser broken link page screen. We need a simple tool in wordpress to scan internal and external links.

Also, since being warned that external tools will follow all links including DELETE POST links, I do not want my blog to disappear – I will not risk it.
