Scary: huge rise in hits on my blog

Suddenly since this afternoon I notice a huge rise in hits on my blog: 26 visitors (is normal) and 313 hits (normal is 60-80 per day). Early evening things were quiet again. I looked at my spambox but there’s nothing there. Does anyone have a suggestion? can something be wrong? I haven’t done anything out of the ordinary, nothing to justify this huge rise.

Nothing to worry about – can’t damage your blog
look at where the traffic coming from in Referrals on the Stats Page – that sometimes helps.
Someone might have posted a link on Facebook, in a forum,etc – maybe some of them will subscribe and become regular readers.

It’s all coming from the Netherlands. I always have a few visitors from abroad but I can see in the stats that the amount of visitors is normal. There must be someone (or something?) looking at a huge amount of old posts. My blog is years old …. strange …. -
I get the same thing from time to time – a week or so ago someone from Sweden ran through all the pictures for a boat delivery helping to move some history from Sweden

I doubt that it is a stalker – if most of the traffic is to a specific Post then someone probably shared it with some friends – if it’s with a search engine then I would suspect that some local event searched to your Post

I’ve tried to figure out what he/she has been doing: aside from some 100 hits on the homepage there are 170 old posts going back to 2008 that have been hit just once, so someone has been reading a lot. My goodness …. someone wants to really get to know my cats … :D
