Scheduled Post have Post date also

  • Unknown's avatar

    I use the Schedule Post option. For those post, they all have a post date and an Update Post Date. I only want the date for when it is scheduled to post. How do I fix this?

    The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    There’s no ‘native’ way to fix this. Its a feature of the Eventbrite themes. Since these themes are intended to be used for events, the split timestamp makes sense.

    Since you have the Premium plan, I can help you find some CSS to hide one of them though. Can you tell me which timestamp you’d like hidden?

    On my scheduled post it shows Posted on December 30, 2014 Updated on December 30, 2014. The first Posted on is for the day I first enter article as if I were posting if immediately. The Updated on date is the date it is to be posted. For instance, I am gathering articles to post every 30 minutes from 7 am through 7 am next day. I don’t want every article to have two post dates, only the date it is to be posted. Does that make sense. I read somewhere to amend the CCS to the following: What happens if you use the $post_id function arg noted in the reference instead of doing global $post?
    So:
    function test_action ( $post_id ) {
    update_post_meta( $post_id, ‘hook_fired’, ‘true’ );
    }
    I don’t know what that means or how to do it to see if it works. Thank you for your help.

    We can’t use that type of code unfortunately. I don’t see a way to change the language of the “updated on” part, but we can hide the “posted on”. Open your Customizer and paste this entire code into the CSS pane:

    .posted-date {
    	display: none;
    }

    Does that change work for you?

  • Unknown's avatar

    Please forgive my ignorance but I don’t understand. I don’t know how to do this process. Can you give me a step by step?

  • Unknown's avatar

    Sure! First Open your Customizer. You can find this in your blog menu in the upper left or in your dashboard at Appearance > Customize.

    Once the Customizer is open, click on “CSS” on the right.

    You can delete all of the text that’s currently in the editor there and just paste in the code I gave you above.

    Hope this helps! Let me know if I can clarify anything. :)

    Hi Shawna, that removed the post date on all the post and only shows the Updated post date however only on the scheduled post. Can we just remove the Updated post date? I think I would rather just have the posted on date and remove the Updated on date. Thank you.

    I think I figured it out. I’ll let you know.

  • Unknown's avatar

    Sorry about that! I misunderstood. It looks like you figured out the code though! :D

    Let me know if there’s something else I can help with.

    Lol. Thank you , just shear luck. As a matter of fact. Can we use the same method for the gray bar containing the This entry was posted in Hospital Business News.?

    Nope, I fixed it. You are a great teacher! I’m sure Eric will find more for me to change. Is it alright that I keep your contact for more questions. You should be proud of yourself teaching a 50 year old something new! lol

  • Unknown's avatar

    Awesome! I’m so glad you were able to figure out what you needed. What a great way to start a new year! :D

    Definitely! This thread will close automatically after about two months if there hasn’t been any new posts, but you can always open a new thread with us.

    Hi Shawna, I’m back with another question. How can I add Webcast to our widgets side bar? When they first had me take over this for them, they had a sample video. I removed it to “go live”. They are now creating webcast and want me to load the first one. Thank you in advance for your help.

  • Unknown's avatar

    We have several different ways to embed video on WordPress.com sites. You can see a few of them here:

    Working With Video

    If you can give me more information about where the video is hosted, like whether you’ve uploaded it to YouTube or Vimeo or if you’d like to upload it to your site itself, I can help give you more specifics.

    Hi Shana! I did it! Yay! Now I have another “wish” or problem. The website on explorer and google look great. However, when I log into it via mobile it is not the same. They want it to look the same. Is there something I failed to turn on for anyone to log in on their phone or pads? Thank you so much sweetie.

    It looks like you’re currently using the mobile theme on your site. The theme you’re using is designed responsively so that its displayed at an optimal size and organization for every device. So, you can turn off that mobile theme and the site will still display optimally for different sized browsers.

    You can make that change in your dashboard at Appearance > Mobile:

    https://hospitalbusinessnews.wordpress.com/wp-admin/themes.php?page=mobile-options

    It sounds like you’re maybe asking how to get the desktop site to display on mobile devices. This is general a suboptimal experience for mobile users, so we don’t have an easy way for you to do that. The only way would be to overwrite every mobile style in the theme with the desktop style.

    You are such a great help to me. Now I’m creating the Menu! I’m doing okay except for the Executive Profiles. I have Executive Profile for a Menu, and under that I have 3 Executive names. The problem is it only shows the pictures, I need either another drop down to display a BIO or include the BIO with the photograph. I hope this make sense. Penny

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hi Penny! :)

    Hmm. I’m not entirely certain I’m visualizing this correctly. Can you give me a link to the page, or let me know what menu you’re working on so I can take a closer look?

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hi Shauna, right after I walked away from computer, it dawned on me to try a couple of things. It worked! So my menu drop down is fine. Well except for the color. I don’t have it activated for you to see because it hasn’t been approved yet. What they would like me to do is change the Menu bar color from dark gray to a blue, same with the sub menus. I’m sure it can be done in CSS but don’t know what to look for. Can you help?
