Scheduled Posts Not Triggering
-
Hi,
Having to start a new post about this as I have got nowhere with previous ones and mails to support have not been answered. I also note my previous forum post was closed without any answer being supplied.
I have been blogging for over a year now and I have a large bank of posts ready for future publication. When I complete posts I set them to schedule for a day several years in the future and then when I decide which one or two I want to post from my store each week I alter the scheduled dates to the forthcoming week.
I didn’t have any problems with this until the past 5 or 6 months when my posts started consistently missed their schedule and I have had to manually publish them. It’s not every one but it is three for every four or so.
Now I notice a common answer to this involves someone needing to visit the site to trigger the post and I must admit I have never quite got my head around this. When a post has missed schedule I have visited my own site to see if this does anything but it doesn’t make a difference, logged out and everything. And I get decent traffic anyway so I know that the site has been visited by others and yet nothing has triggered there either.
Mostly I know when my post has been published exactly on time in the past because it generates a tweet that I can see immediately on my timeline. This has been historically been done without anyone having to have visited at that point – it is an instantaneous process.
If it’s any help I have put the address of a post (below) that at time of writing missed its schedule by 3 hours. I would really appreciate some thoughts on this as although I am usually never far away from a computer, I plan to be away for a while and want my blog to tick along in my absence.
Thanks,
C.

Do you have over 100 posts scheduled? If so, that could be the issue. There is a 100 post limit for scheduling.

Ah, might be getting somewhere now. Yes, I have over 200 posts now scheduled. It hash;t given me any message to tell me there was a limit and it seems odd that it would disrupt the ones I put to the front of the queue?

I agree that the system could warn people better. But with 200 posts scheduled, it is almost assuredly the source of your issue.
